Four hormones which are called as Neurotransmitter and provide us comfort, happiness, feel good state of mind.
- Dopamine: is an important hormone of our brain’s reward system. It’s associated with pleasurable sensations, along with learning, memory, and more.
- Serotonin: is an hormone which helps regulate our mood like sleep, appetite, digestion, learning ability, and memory.
- Oxytocin: is also an hormone which helps us for childbirth, mother's milk and strong parent-child bonding. It can also help promote trust, empathy and bonding in relationships. Physical touch, shake hands, hugging, staying close etc improvise a sense of security and trust with other humans due to this hormone
- Endorphins: are hormones which helps us in overcoming physical pain or it is a pain reliever or pain killer, it secretes in response to stress or physical discomfort. This hormone can be increased by reward-producing activities such as eating, working out, gym or physical work activities, military training focuses on this more, athletes focus on this more.
So, these four hormones govern human mood. Hence, if we are learned then we can control our emotions or mood based on this knowledge and not allow ourselves to self harm by abnormal mental conditions.
Chocolates, Ice Cream, Sweets, Coffee, Tea, Ciggarettes, Alcohol, Deep fried food like bajji-bonda-poori-kabab-condiments or any food which has high calories like ghee, butter, cheese, Biryani, Wholesome food at marriages and festivals etc release Dopamine and Serotonin often. Hence we feel happy or comfortable when we eat them, we feel releived or less stressful. Females get Oxytocin also consuming these food. Hence such foods are called comfort food, since the brain likes all pleasurable things we get addicted to such food, which again in turn make us happy and comfy.
